BARE Lawn Care
The Nova's Choice Program

A full year of organic care

Our fully-organic plan feeds the soil, not just the grass — building a lawn thick enough to crowd out weeds on its own. No synthetic weed killers, no chemical grub or disease sprays. Just a healthy lawn your family and Nova can walk on the very same day.

100% organic · safe for bare feet & paws

Feed the soil

Slow-release organic nutrients build living soil, so the lawn grows strong from the roots up instead of getting a chemical jolt.

Thick turf beats weeds

Overseeding, aeration, and the right mowing height crowd weeds out naturally — dense grass is the organic weed control.

Biology, not chemicals

Beneficial nematodes handle grubs; healthy airflow and mowing handle disease. Nature does the work synthetics would.

Spring

March – May
Early spring · March – early April

Corn gluten & first feeding

Applied: Corn gluten meal — a natural pre-emergent that suppresses crabgrass and feeds the lawn its first slow dose of nitrogen.

Timed before the soil warms past ~55°F (about when the forsythia bloom). It's the organic answer to a chemical pre-emergent, and it wakes the lawn up gently.

Weed prevention begins
Mid spring · April – May

Organic feeding & soil test

Applied: Slow-release organic fertilizer (feather meal, alfalfa, composted poultry) plus a soil test to check pH and nutrients.

The soil test tells us exactly what your lawn needs — often a little lime for pH — so we amend from evidence, not guesswork.

Late spring · May – June

Overseed & mowing set-up

Applied: Overseeding of thin spots, spot weed removal, and a mowing height set to 3–3.5″.

Taller grass shades out weed seeds and holds moisture. This is where thick, competitive turf starts doing the weed control for us.

Summer

June – August
Early summer · June – July

Light feed & grub prevention

Applied: A light organic feeding plus beneficial nematodes (or milky spore) to head off grubs biologically.

We keep summer nitrogen low to avoid stressing the lawn in the heat, and let living organisms — not insecticide — keep grubs in check.

Compost topdress & monitor

Applied: A thin compost topdressing to build soil biology, deep-watering guidance, and disease watch.

If disease shows, we manage it culturally — better airflow and mowing — rather than reaching for a fungicide. Compost keeps the soil food web thriving through the heat.

Fall

September – November
Early fall · September

Aerate, overseed & feed

Applied: Core aeration, a fresh overseeding, and a strong organic fall feeding.

The cornerstone of the whole program. Aeration relieves compaction, new seed thickens the stand, and fall is when cool-season grass builds itself — the single best month to crowd weeds out for good.

The turning point
Late fall · October – November

Organic winterizer

Applied: A final organic feeding to build roots and store energy for winter.

The most important feeding of the year. It's why an organic lawn wakes up thick and deep-green in spring, well ahead of the weeds.

Rest

December – February
Winter · December – February

The lawn rests — and so do the chemicals it never got

Soil life goes quiet under the frost. We review your soil-test results and plan next year's adjustments, so spring starts a step ahead.

Why organic takes a full year

A chemical program buys a quick green-up; an organic one builds a lawn that stays healthy on its own. Feeding the soil, thickening the turf, and letting biology handle pests is slower at first and unbeatable over time — and every step is safe for the people and pets who actually live on the grass.

Timing shifts a week or two each year with soil temperature and weather; a soil test guides the exact nutrient plan for your property. Nova's Choice is offered as part of a lawn care package and includes a 10% discount on all treatments.
